Are you looking for horse boarding in the Smyrna Tennessee area? I can help. I have a small farm between I-24 and I-840 and I will treat your horse like my own. At this time I have 2 openings. (Two horses are going off for 3 to 4 months of training and the owner doesn't want to pay board in 2 locations. They said they will check back when the horses are done with training but to not hold the spots) I always have openings for Mini's or IR Horses. (References available upon Request) I have very little turnover here (horses leaving) and I feel these spots won't be open for long. I will be fencing off one more paddock in the near future that will offer 1 or 2 more spots.

All horses boarded here get the following care at my facility:

  • Fed Daily Nutrena Safechoice Grain or Purina's Enrich 32, Purina 500, or Purina Senior - amount is determined by the current weight of the horse
  • Fastrack Priobiotic
  • Good quality grass hay fed twice a day in the summer time and three times a day in the winter
  • Garlic to help keep fly's away
  • Fly Predators are also used to keep down flies
  • Bi-Monthly Paste Wormer with a Power Pack every Spring (Some of the horses are done in February and some in April)
  • Trims from Farrier (shoes are extra)
Barn

If you provide a blanket in the winter time your horse will be blanketed as the weather determines. I do not blanket unless it is extremely cold (usually when it is below 30), your horse is shivering, or if the weather drops more then 25 degrees in a 24 hour period.

I do not charge to hold for the farrier or vet as long as my own horse is getting done that day. There will be a $10.00 fee to hold your horse if my horse is not being seen by the vet.

I am 8 miles from Walter Hill Horse Trails, less than an hour to Percy Werner Park and about an hour and 20 minutes away from Natchez Trace Trailhead in Franklin Tennessee.

I study Parelli Natural Horsemanship and I have currently passed level one and I'm studding level two. This is not a requirement for boarding at this facility but please understand that I treat horses naturally not harshly. Currently some of our boarders also study Parelli. If you want to study Parelli with us we get together as often as we can and practice together. We now have a play day and cookout the first Saturday of every month.

I am a multi breed facility and believe horses are companions and no breed is better then another. We have Quarter Horses, Walking Horses, Paso Finos, and Mini's here currently.

Currently I do not have electricity or water in the barn. I know this is an inconvenience but I have a flashlight to light up both tackrooms after dark. Since horses are not stall kept water is not an problem. The water troughs are filled every few days to keep the water fresh. I also have a small paddock for horses to be put in if they are hurt or need to be on a dry lot. The dry lot is next to the main pasture so they can visit over the fence.

I want to thank Rusty Bane from Purina for coming out and evaluating each and every horse on the property. We did change the type of feed a few of the horses were getting and the amount of a few others but over all I was given a thumbs up on my current system.

Rates:

  • Pasture Only $300 per month. There are 2 to 3 horses per pasture set up. Each Pasture has a sacrifice area (with little or no grass) and a grazing area that is seeded every spring and fall. Horses graze a few hours every other day and get hay. When pastures are reseeded they are not grazed for 30 to 60 days. (sometimes round bales are used instead of square bales) Run in shelters are in the process of being built. Horses are tied up at feeding stations daily to ensure they get full supplements without other horses running them off their feed. I cover worming and Farrier Trims (shoes are extra) with board. The only thing that you need to spend extra is Vet and Chiropractor if you choose to use the Chiropractor when he comes out. (Not a Requirement for the Chiropractor but the Vet is)

  • Mini Board $100 per month. This option also includes farrier trims and worming. Sometimes mini's are put with larger horses that have a good temperament.

  • Paddock Boarding. $250 per month for once a day feeding $300 per month for twice a day feeding. I have a few small paddocks (dry lots) and a few more in the process of being built. If your horse can not be on grass and must be paddocked full time (insulin resistant, cushings, etc) then I have the paddocks for you. Shelters will be purchased on an as needed basis. If you want a private paddock for your mini this is the way to go. Worming and Farrier trims are included. The reason the paddock price is not that much less than pasture boarding is because the work and amount of hay/grain costs are the same. The only difference is your horse is alone and not with another horse. Some horses are put onto the arena for grazing a few days or evenings a week depending on the horse's needs.

I will attempt to work with anyone for any additional special needs that you or your horse might need. I have a BS degree from MTSU in Equine Science and I try to continually learn new and improved ways to do things.

I do have the capability to keep Insulin Resistant Horses, older horses, or horses needing some special needs. If you have one of these types of horses that need private paddocks please go ahead and contact me to see if I can currently meet your needs. I have several paddocks planned and can go ahead and get one finished if you need one.

I use a Natural Balance Farrier that works really well with all horses. He takes his time and does a great job.

We use the Tennessee Equine Hospital which only works with horses and keep up with the latest horse care. They have a state of the art surgery center. They are a wonderful set of vets and will take the time to answer your questions without making you feel bad for asking. Our own "Little Ben's Bonnett" is currently thier unofficial Mascott. She had to be rushed to the hospital on October 9th. She stayed over night and was the first sick patient in the new facility. She was recognized at their open house and was the guest of honor at the Williamson County's Chamber of Commerce meeting on November 24th. (coming soon a page with Bonnie's photos)

Testamonials

I am a past boarder with DaNel and I was always confident my horses were getting great care. She is very accommodating to her boarders and really works with each horse to make sure they are getting their individual nutrition needs met. Although the acreage is small it is well managed and rotated to give each paddock time to recover so that grass is always available. The arena and toys are nice to have and I would have no problem recommending this as a reliable place to have your horse. I moved my horse after 13 months, only because I found a place closer to my residence.

I have worked as the farrier for DaNel Resha for nearly four years and have found her to be very professional in all aspects of her business. She always puts the welfare of the horses under her charge above all else. She is very educated and knowledgeable about different types of feed, hay and other health aspects of horses. She also has a very good working knowledge of the horses foot and the care thereof. I would recommend her facility to anyone.
